Problems encountered at Mullaghmore, which have been discussed, include:

1. Occasional cattle wandering on to the beach from a commonage area.

2. Very occasional higher than EU recommended faecal coliform values (both animal and human forms) recorded at the beach.

3. Untreated village sewage passing into the sea from the cliffs near the village, at a popular shore entry site for divers diving at "Thumb Rock".

4. A population which expands dramatically in the summer tourist season, increasing the amount of sewage produced, increasing health hazzard risks for divers near the pipeline and with the potential to pollute local seashore and underwater wildlive; increased cars may also clog road acess.

5. Some jet skis and speed boats travelling too fast, too close to the harbour and known snorkelling or SCUBA diving areas.

6. Trees being cut down, and animal slurry being spread on the lands of Classiebawn castle.

(The above list was produced by Bill Crowe alone; not officially by the committe; but every effort was made by Bill, who attended and spoke at the public meeting on the subject, to be accurate and unbiased).
