Tullamore, County Offaly, was the venue, on Sunday January 16th 2011, for the National All-Ireland Uneven Ages Cross Country Championship Finals, the one which had been cancelled from December 2010 due to severe Artic Weather conditions.
It was a beautiful sunny day with light winds, fairly mild but not too warm. There had been heavy rains and howling gales the day before, but the ground was in good condition, was manageable to run on, mostly a fast level course with some hills. There was a large turnout of competitors on the day from all over the country.

North Sligo boys set new records in Nenagh
LAST WEEKEND North Sligo AC athletes travelled to Nenagh, Co. Tipperary for the National Juvenile Indoor Championships.
On Saturday our first athletes on the track were William Crowe and Cian McBride in the Heats of the U15 Boys, 800m.
Both lads cruised to the final qualifying in two different Heats.
Sinead Keogh was next on the starting line in the Girls U15 1000m Walk, Sinead competing in a very strong field did really well to finish 3rd and collect her Bronze medal.
Meanwhile, Crowe and McBride were preparing themselves for the U15 800m final and what a race it turned out to be.
From the Gun, the North Sligo athletes settled into a very fast pace set by Letterkenny athlete, Peter Gibbons.
At the Bell, Crowe moved in front with McBride on his shoulder and the real battle began, the North Sligo Boys accelerated down the back straight taking them away from the main chasing pack.
The Boys crossed the finish line with William claiming the Gold medal in a time of 2.07.83 and Cian taking Silver in 2.07.95.
This fantastic achievement was a just reward for these two fine athletes who have prepared diligently over the last number of months.

On Sunday morning, these boys were back in action in the U15 4x200m Relay. The team won their heat, booking a place in the final with a time of 1.48. Little did we know, what was in store for the final.
First out of the Blocks in the final, was Odhran Byrne Gildea. Silver medallist, in the 60m Sprint Finals in Magerafelt, Odhran powered his way from the Blocks and handed the Baton over to Cian McBride with 10-12 metres of a lead.
Cian ran a strong leg, gaining slightly on the local team from Nenagh Olympic and Kilkenny City Harriers.
Cian handed the Baton to Ryan McCarrick. This young lad who is new to the sport performed with unbelievable maturity and increased the lead to 30 metres.
He handed over safely to William Crowe and at this stage victory was in sight.
William powered around the last 200m crossing the line in a new Irish Record of 1.41.83.
Another member of the Team was Ronan Anderson who performed really well in the Heat.

The event was well organised, and with the excellent facilities at the IT (good track, for the finish; changing rooms with warm showers; "Wheats" Restaurant, for the tea/ coffee sandwiches and cakes, and presentation of the results and prizes afterwards) was well liked by the competitors, and is likely to become a popular venue for similar events in the future. The shorter 5K distance for a road race also attracted some of the younger competitors.
